Evaluation question 4

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

New forms of technology have played a massive role in the production or three pieces of media and in the three stage process of creating them, planning, production, evaluation.

First piece of media outlets talk about blogger. Bloggers played a massive role in all three stages of this process because it is the method that we use to submit our work. It is also a great way to access work we have done from all over the world at any time as long as you have access to the Internet. Some of the biggest benefits of using blogger are that you can I upload multimedia files in many different formats and also upload information from websites such as prezzi, wordle and youTube. Also blogger is a very organised system because before uploading the blog post you can title it and when you publish your post it saves the date and time that it was published and orders them by this system you can also search for a blog post by its title which saves you time sifting through all the other posts you done.

Another piece of crucial technology that we used is high-performance Apple Mac computers these are very important pieces of technology because it is what we did all of the editing work, so they played the biggest role when we was in the production stage of our task. The reason these computers are really good for editing is that there were very large hard drive, high-quality graphics card and large amounts of RAM compared to the computer so we have for general use around school along with other things. The reason these things are necessary for editing is that it takes up a lot of memory and processing ability to do.

The program that we used for a video editing is called Final Cut Pro is only supported by Apple hardware Final Cut Pro is a very high quality professional editing software takes a lot of knowledge to use well. The biggest positive reason of using Final Cut Pro is the final product you finish up with because it's such a professional piece of equipment when used well it makes your entire work look very professional. The downside of Final Cut Pro is that because it's professional and complex to use is very easy to get confused to make big mistakes as we found out when using it.

Piece of software ever used for photo manipulation was Photoshop CS3 once again is a very professional piece of equipment used in the media industry. The way that it works is you build a final image through making slight changes to an image and layering these changes on top of each other which gives you a final product which can be very different to the picture he started with. The biggest downside of using this product is that it takes a lot of skill to use properly and if you don't have a basic knowledge of how to use Photoshop you can waste a lot of time playing around with things trying to work out. Another downside to these two pieces of software earlier both very expensive to buy and equally expensive to have training in using properly.

Two other pieces of technology that played a crucial role in the production or music video digipak an advert are of course HD video camera for the film needed and the directors commentary for our music video a digital voice recorder. Firstly I’m going to talk about is the HD video camera, I’d say the most important piece of technology that we had at our disposal without this we wouldn't of been able to film or take pictures needed for the production of our music video, digipak and advert some of the biggest advantages of using HD video camera is that all of the footage you film is in really good quality and the cameras battery is good so we could take it out for the whole day filming without it running out also they can hold a lot of film without running out of memory. The down side to these types of technology is they are normally very expensive but over all they are well worth the money

directors

the first half of the music video Sam is portrays as someone who is obsessing over and stalking the female character in this music video played by Lucy's this is shown by Sam staring at a picture of Lucy in the first few shots of the video then continues to be a trait throughout the video. The first 38 seconds of this video is a montage of Sam we do this because it lets you straightaway identify with the character, so that you understand he's a bit of a lad this helps set the mood for the rest of the video. We portray Sam a bit of a lad because this conforms with the general convention of our chosen genre.
Chip shop seen the video is nice because it shows that staring at Lucy, and Lucy idly looking back at him when Sam sees this he starts daydreaming about him Sitting on the swings of Lucy at this point he loses place queue.
It then cuts to a shots of Sam standing behind and around Lucy looking over her shoulder singing the chorus. It then has a shot of Lucy saying are you smoking crack or something. This is a big turning point in the song because after this there are lots more shots that show Sam stalking Lucy for example Sam picking up Lucys cash machine receipt. This shows a big switch of power from your normal music video because Lucy has the power Sam is to be shown as helpless. After this there is a montage of Sam looking upset and drinking

Evaluation question 3

QUESTION 3
What have you learned from your audience feedback?

From the focus group we did at the end of production we learned that our focus group did not think that our digipak fitted very well with our music video because the colours did not seem to match. In our digipak we used a lot of grey but in our music that you use a lot of bright colours, after hearing this we have decided to go back and change our digipak so there is bright and fits better with a video. Another negative that we learn from the focus group is that there are one or two shots in our video that did not seem to give anything to the overall once again after hearing this we decided to take these shots out and replaced with more meaningful shots the two shots that they did not agree with are, one of Sam pulling a funny face they did not like this shot because it broke the image we had built up of Sam being a gangster bit of a lad. The second shot that the feedback from the focus group said that they did not like was one of the last shots of when Sam is meant to be very drunk the sure it is of some jumping around in the field with his arms flapping with the church in the background looking very happy to focus group said the shot does not fit because in this part of the music video is meant to be portraying Sam to be upset as he's been let down by Lucy who has ignored him for a “white shirted man”.

On the positive side the audience feedback we got in general from music video was very very good something that was also good is that the audience were still laughing at the part in our music video that were meant to be funny our music video after seeing it tree four times also they were very complimentary of our choice of actors for this music video and agreed with us and the fact that Sam and Lacy fit the roles that they were casted for perfectly. They also said that we do a very good job of selling the identity of my main character as there were some very nice close-up shots of Sam's face.

In the future things that we can improve on from comments made by teachers during lessons is to have a more structured storyboard from the start as this led to a few problems in editing stages of a music video. Also from comments made in the focus group at the end I think we need to take more time care and attention in the design of the digipak in the future.

Evaluation question 2

QUESTION 2
How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

A house style when designing many pieces of media to sell one product is very important because it lets the audience know straightaway what they are looking at. If the audience sees an advert street or in a shop window they can instantly identify this advert with a product is very beneficial to the people who tried to sell the product because if the owners like the look of the advert they can go and find the product without much difficulty which subsequently will increase the sales of the product.
Another reason why hostile is very important is it makes things look much more professional for example issues looking at a music video advert in one font and colour and design and the digipak was in a different font colour and design it would look unprofessional, it would look as if the products have been rushed in the production and not properly thought through this gives a bad impression to the audience.
A third reason why house style is very important is that if you have an advert and each pack is completely different to the song you are trying to sell it will give the buyer a false impression of what you're trying to sell for example, if the advert and digipak user graffiti style of text this would give the impression of urban music but then if the song it was trying to sell was classical it would not fit this gives a false impression to the audience.

So when designing did you digipak an advert we had to take into consideration the type of music we all trying to sell. In our case genre music is British urban, so our digipak and advert had to appeal to our target audience which are people between the age of 16 and 35 in a social demographic group of D, E. We believe this is our target audience because Mr music is aimed at a working-class group of people also believe it's quite a young adults type of music with the reference it makes to going out on the “Pull”. We also had to take into consideration trying to sell you against your main singer Sam Dempstar so on the front cover of our digipak we have a picture of Lucy and in the background on a bridge behind her Sam staring at her. Lucy is faded out of focus and Sam is in focus so draws your eye to Sam. On the next page there is a mid-range shot of Sam and on the next page over there is a mid-range of Lucy Sam comes for Lucy, in this case because Sam is the artist that we are trying to sell. Another reason for this is that study show that our eye is drawn to the right side of a two-page spread before we look at the left side.

We took pictures for our Digipak with the same camera reused in uneasy video for the stop frame animation “a Nikon on SLR camera” we did this because we wanted it to fit in with our music video in keeping with the house style.

After designing Digipak we went on to design our advert we use the same colour base for advert as we did with Digipak we did this so we had a bit more of a house style so the audience can instantly recognise who the advert is for also be used the same kind of font in both pieces of media and a picture that we have in our music video so there is more recognisable the picture itself is of Sam Dempster so once again we are trying to sell his identity to the public to promote sales.

Evaluation question1

QUESTION 1
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

I think that or music video mostly conforms with the general convention of our chosen music genre which is British urban music the general conventions for this type of music is far shots train one dominant role normally shown as a working-class person in working-class locations. I think the video conforms to most of these general conventions because we filmed all of our shots in urban locations we also used our main actors Sam Dempstar and Lucy Hyner who both fit the look that we were trying to portray in our music video of being young and living in a working-class environment. Another way that I think are the video conforms to the general conventions of our chosen genre is that we have short shots as is quite fast paced song this is important because if we didn't the music video would look as if it did not fit with the song. One way I think we challenged the general conventions or chosen genre is that we show Sam Dempstar towards the end of the song is being quite vulnerable as he is stalking Lucy and obsessing over this is not commonly done our genre of music videos because the main singer is normally shown is quite dominant role with all the power also I think in our music video we go against the Laura Mulvey theory. This theory states that women are shown through the male eyes this means that women are normally wearing very little clothing and dancing in a seductive way. In our music video we challenge this music video theory because we portray Lucy as the person with all the power and Sam as the person that is in trouble and at the mercy of Lucy. In this music video we try to use a lot of wit this is not a common aspect seen music videos of this genre.

Another music video theory that control links with in a music video is the Andrew Goodwin theory this states that there are certain links between music videos and the song itself for example, if the song is singing about a man in a pub than more often than not there will be a man a pub in the music video. Also it states that if the song has quite fast rhythm to it then in the music video it is often fast paced with quite bright colours.

I think that the music video we have made conforms with this theory because there is quite a linear correlation between the song and the video we have produced for example in the song when Mike Skinner sings about drinking we show Sam Dempstar in a pub drinking alcohol. Another example of this is in uneasy video where Mike Skinner sings the line
“Snaring you as you were standing there opposite
Whether or not you knew it I swear you didn't tick

we have Sam sitting across from Lucy on benches in a high Street, Sam is obviously looking at Lucy but Lucy seemed oblivious to this. This fits in very well with the Andrew Goodwin theory.

In today's lesson we had a final big  push to finish our music video advert and managed to so now we have to do is put the final touches on the digipak so that we can be done and ready to start the evaluation.

Thursday 1 December 2011

production Post 14

today me Tom and Jack did not have a media studies lesson but we all had a free lesson coincided so we decided to spend it working on the advert as we think this is the weakest part of collection of media products.

we now think is video advert is looking very promising here's a picture of our as it stands now.

Monday 28 November 2011

production post 13

now we finished our video we can concentrate on our advert and digipak this lesson Me and Tom worked on the digipak while Jack worked on the advert

Friday 25 November 2011

production post 12

today all three of us decided to work on the music video as we think we could finish this lesson if we work hard and together as it was a double period and we decided that we'd was going to stay after school.we finished a music video at about 4.30 after-school hours, we're little scare just before we save the music video well before we have deleted it all out a scary 10 min it turns out that we are just pressed the wrong button and hidden sequence. Now that we finished our music video we can concentrate on digipak an advert.
we also managed to upload our video to our blogs this is a screenshot from my blog of my uploaded video.

job done!!

today the group split up into three different parts I was working on editing process of the video and uploading the footage that the filming Kingston. Tom was working on the digipak with some of the pictures that we had taken in Kingston and Jack H was putting together the plan for the advert. I today's lesson was very productiveby splitting up into three groups we managed to tackle three different problems at once. while we did not finish any of them were made a good start on the Digi Pack and the advert and editing went well, we decided that we will be using this technique in the future.

Thursday 17 November 2011

production post 10

today was a whole day out and filmed in Kingston, the locations in Kingston we filmed was the high Street a small park that we found and by the riverside where there are some lovely views on great bridges. Today's and we got the majority of filming done and fairly certain that now we do not need to collect any more film and is merely a matter of editing altogether for the final product we also got some pictures by the Riverside as the sun was going down to go with the Digi Pack and advert.

Monday 14 November 2011

production post 9

this lesson we borrowed camera and tripod and one back down to the local kebab shop to refilm this whole section of footage I think films they were much better than it did last timeas he made a better use of the tripod the footage looks much more stable and professional also we have a better plan of what we were doing and where we went wrong last time.

Another section of film that we got today was an alleyway is a really nice piece of film was really interested shots. In this location we filmed for two different sections of the music video one being  one of the choruses and the song, and the other section was for the lines
" what do I give ****
I got friend anyway"
for this scene we've got Tom playing the white shirted man saying these lines and Sam getting very angry about this and having to be held back because he was going to hit Tom.

Thursday 10 November 2011

production Post 8

today we continued with the editing of the footage from Brighton and Grove Park is we're now about the third of the way through the editing process for this whole project i also planned with the other group members and our actors to going we filmed the kebabs shop as I thought it could be greatly improved and I know now what needs to be improved as another mistakes we made the first time we filmed. One of the biggest mistakes we made was trying to do overhead shot by hand-held shot looked very jumpy as if it was being filmed just an earthquake.

Tuesday 8 November 2011

production Post 7-the departure of Charlie Holt

today we uploaded the footage from Grove Park and the kebab shop.We also found out that one of our group members Charlie Holt had been excluded from school and was no longer taking part in the production of our music video. This is a big let down for us seeing as we were planning to use Charlies man's pub along the main locations and music video this is now no longer possible also means the worker should have originally been split between four people now needs to be completed by three so a lot more work is needed by the individual.

Friday 4 November 2011

production first 6

today we went out to film in Grove Park and the local kebab shop. I think the going today went very well we got a lot filmed that we needed to get filmed so we could progress with editing side of the process.

also we got some beautiful stop frame animation is Sam and Lucy walking towards each other and of Sam and Lucy putting on scarves and coats. We also lots some nice shots of Sam walking into the kebab shop also Sam being pushed out the queue when he loses concentration when he is at staring at Lucy this fits very well for the lines we haven't song.

Monday 31 October 2011

production Post 5

last lesson we almost finish ordering all of the good film the we got from brighten and on the journey there and back. and we plan to go and film on the next Wednesday with Sam and Lucy in grove park where we will bring Tom's SLR camera to film in a different quality to give and also to film stop frame animations

Thursday 27 October 2011

This lesson Me and Tom continued to edit and sequence the music video and Jack Hargreave start to plan the digipak

Tuesday 25 October 2011

Production Post 3

Today we continuied to edit the film from Brighten we managed to order the first chorus of the song.

Thursday 20 October 2011

Production Post 2

Today we started editing the footage that we got from Brighton and also me and tom found and uploaded the song "fit but don't you know it, by the street's".

Monday 17 October 2011

Production Post 1

Today we went to Brighton to film on the beach, pier and a pub that we had contacted in advance via letter to ask permission to film inside. We feel that this trip was good for our group as we got a lot of really good shots and footage which linked very well with our genre choice, We filmed a small part of our video on the train to brighton with our main character drinking a beer and to avoid breaking the law we had filled the drink apple juice. One thing that we lacked in Brighton was concentration, we were not really focused and could of gotten a lot more footage while up there. We spent to much time messing around instead of being focused on the task ahead. A way we could improve is by being more focused and may have a task list.

Inter-textuality

Inter-textuality is where one piece of media is influenced by another, this may mean that there are references to it or it could perhaps pay homage to it. It could borrow or adapt ideas from it and integrate them into it’s own production. It is often used so the audience can relate to the piece (if they are aware of the inter-textual reference), it can also create a sense of gratification because they are part of the ‘in-joke’.

Inter-textuality is used in the video for The Killers’ Mr. Brightside where the entire video pays homage to the film Moulin Rouge. The narrative of the video is a love triangle set in a burlesque show, there is a poor man in love with a performer who has been courted by a wealthy man. There is also a brief scene in which the singer loses at a game of checkers and lashes out, parallel to the film.

It is also used in the video for The Universal by Blur, there are various references to Stanley Kubrick’s film A Clockwork Orange. The video opens in the milk bar, a key setting in the film (and book) and the band are dressed as the droogs (gang members). Lead singer Damon Albarn is wearing eye-liner reminiscent of that worn by the main character Alex DeLarge.

In Robbie Williams’ Let Me Entertain You, there is reference to some previous rock performers such as Kiss and Ozzy Osbourne. At one point Robbie is about to bite the head off a dove, which is obviously related to when Ozzy Osbourne would bite the heads off bats at his concerts. The reference to Kiss is in his costume, he is wearing black and white make-up similar to what they would wear on stage.

There are a wide variety of inter-textual references in the video for Eminem’s We Made You, he parodies many celebrities and shows. There are references to Sarah Palin, Jessica Simpson, Lindsey Lohan, Amy Winehouse, Kim Kardashian and many more. There are also links to Star Trek and the films Psycho and Rain Man.

My influences that could be used in our own video would include British urban culture, such as grime artist (like Professor Green) or films like Kidulthood. There could be references to these through the content of our video, perhaps paying homage to some parts.

3 main music categories

Music videos can often be categorised into different types, whether it is performance based, a narrative video or a comedy. Often the genre of the music depends on what category the video falls into.
Performance based videos are where the main content is of the artist performing the song; some sort of performance aspect is included in most videos, usually combined with a narrative. A variety of shots and angles can be used in such a performance to provide it with some diversity and interest, a range of locations, costume and performance styles can also be used to create interest. This category of video is most commonly used in rock videos, but as previously stated it is usually used in most videos of most genres.
A narrative video is one where the main focus of the video is a story designed to accompany and often represent the song, it will tell a story that is in some way related to the song. This category is particularly effective in engaging the audience because it makes them want to know what is going to happen to the characters, as opposed to just watching the artist performing which is usually not as effective. Most genres use this category because it can be applied to just about any song, but it is most commonly used in ‘pop’ music videos.
Another category that is used in music videos is that of comedy, where interest is created through the use of humour in the video. This is an effective way of engaging the audience because it satisfies their need for entertainment. It is most commonly used in ‘pop-rock’ videos but can also be used for certain hip-hop songs, such as Eminem.

Research into the music industry

where people access music video's

people can access music video on the TV on channels like MTV and the BOXX. and people also normally watch music videos online from sites like youtube and virgin media.

famous music video directors

Colin Tilley
michael bay
jonas Ã…kerlund

The main purpose of music videos

the main purpose o music video's are to premot a song so that it is remembers an also to premot the artist or bands image so people will recognise them.

How music videos are made generally

1. meeting with the band and manager ect.. is made so the purpose and aim of the music video can be set and jobs can be assined.

2. maket research into the type of music video that is being made so the makes no what the audience is looking for.

3. detaled Story board is made, actors recruited.

4. shooting dated are then decided on.

5. filming of the music video.

6. editing of the video, and final touches like packaging

7. finaly distrodution of the music video be that thought youtube and TV.

Andrew Goodwin and Laura Mulvey

Andrew Goodwin

Andrew Goodwin believes that there are various conventions to music videos that must be taken into account, for instance there is a link between the music and lyrics and the visuals. So what is being sung in the song will usually be reflected in what is being shown, similarly there will also be a link between the music and the video so if the song is upbeat and happy then the video will be quite bright. He also argues that there will be lots of close-ups and focus on the artist, this is because they would be the symbol of the song and the main attraction, this is a demand from the record label.

This will be applied to our music video for The Streets’ Fit But You Know It because there will probably be a main character who will be the focus of the video and provide many opportunities for close-ups. It is also a rather upbeat song so the video is likely to be quite bright and quick, reflecting the style of the music. In addition, the song is quite narrative so it would easy to relate the lyrics to the visuals.

 Laura Mulvey

According to Laura Mulvey’s Male Gaze theory the video would take the perspective of the man over the woman, so the audience would see the situation through the eyes of a man. She also believes that women are always depicted as either a 'virgin’ or ‘whore’ type character.

This will definitely apply to our music video because the song is clearly from the perspective of a man who is looking at a woman. it is very unlikely that there would be any perspective of the woman shown in the video. It is probable that women in the video will be represented as the ‘whore’ character.

analyzsing results of questionair

From my results i have gathered that the introduction is very very important to the music video and if it does not interest the audience then they are more than likely going to change the channel to something that does instead of waiting to see if it gets better.

Another thing that i have found out is that doing something new and imagination is very important because the audience is always looking for something new.

One more this that people think that a music video is important for many different reasons but the three main reasons that i found are gives the song another aspect, promotes the artist/band and tells a story better.

Target Audienc

The primary audience for The Streets’ Fit But You Know It would be young men from working class backgrounds, likely to fall into the D/E category between the ages of 16 and 35. This is partially because Mike Skinner, the performer, is exactly that person. Also, the song is about an attractive young woman, so women and older people would not have much interest in it. The language used, such as ‘fit’, directs the song towards a more working class audience because they will be able to understand the song, where as someone who is not familiar with this ‘dialect’ may not completely know what the song is about.
This song may interest fans British hip-hop, rap or the urban culture in general. They may also be fans Professor Green or Dizzee Rascal who are rap artists who, like Skinner, often use humour in their songs. Similarly, Eminem’s early music, such as The Marshall Mathers LP or The Eminem Show, sometimes uses comedy to engage the audience so fans of Eminem may also like The Streets.

I Need You Tonight Analysis

The video for Professor Green’s I Need You Tonight depicts a man’s obsession with a girl despite her not being interested in him. He does his best to get over her and move on but can’t, she calls him and he asks for a ‘time and a place’. In the end he does forget about her after meeting another girl.
The video opens with Green pacing around his phone, there is a shot-reverse-shot between the phone and a girl which suggests that she is the desired caller and the reason for his unsettledness. He ends up calling her but she says she’s busy, when dialling Green pulls down a screen which shows the number pad and then displays her in her room, this represents the distance that exists between the two of them. He does regular things around the house like checking the fridge whilst performing the song, close-ups are used for this as they allow you to see the emotion on his face as he raps about this girl, this shows how he can’t even do the simplest of tasks without thinking about her.
As with most music videos there is a performance section and a narrative section. The performance aspect is done in front of a quite dark wall, there are points in the video where the girl is dancing seductively around Green which may represent what he is thinking of. Similarly, he performs in front of a screen playing a video of her, he then proceeds to walk through the screen only for another displaying her to be revealed and this happens a few more times. This implies that no matter how hard he tries, he cannot escape her and get her out of his head.
Special effects and animation are used regularly in the video and are effective in creating interest, they help to create comedy in the video which really engages the audience. In one scene he puts his arm behind a screen which then shows his hand stretching, this continues on two more screens and shows his hand trying to reach the girl but she shuts her door on him, his hand then ‘springs’ back to normal.
The main narrative is set at a party, but instead of enjoying himself he is either just sat on the sofa or talking to people about the girl, this shows how even when presented with an opportunity to move on he still can’t. However, he does get over her at the end of the video when another girl sits next to him on the sofa, his blanket is ripped off and reveals him to be wearing a suit, this is another moment of comedy which keeps the viewer engaged right up to the end.
In conclusion, the video for I Need You Tonight uses a combination of special effects and comedy to create humorous and interesting situations that engage the viewer. The video also clearly represents the theme of the video where the man cannot forget about this girl who is not interested in him, this creates sympathy for him and therefore the ending satisfies the audience where he does get over her.

Oopsy Daisy Analysis

The video for Chipmunk’s Oopsy Daisy tells the tale of a man who has been dumped by letter when he returns home, the emotions that he feels following the break-up are the main focus of the video. Throughout the video he sees ‘visions’ of his past-self with the girl, but they set on fire and burn away, signifying the death of their relationship.
Although she broke up with him, when the girl sings the chorus close-ups are always used and this is the only way we see her, we are shown the pain she has suffered in dumping him as a result of this method. The audience feels sympathy for her because she is only ever shown to be sad and emotional. In contrast, a variety of shots are used to portray Chipmunk in the video. The beginning of the video (before he is dumped) uses mostly low angles when showing him because he feels confident and powerful, he believes to himself to be in control as he returns to his lovely home in his nice car, he thinks he is on top of the world. However, when he discovers her letter a mixture of high and low angled shots are used, perhaps to show his confusion at the situation he now finds himself in and the mixed emotions that he feels. This idea is reinforced by the jump cuts that are used, these represent the unsettledness his life is now experiencing. The last shot of the entire video is a very high angle looking right down on him, this signifies that he really is vulnerable and weak after all.
The lighting in the video also represents his decline into sadness, it opens on a nice sunny day and continues that way, even after he was dumped. But the video ends at night, a much darker and solemn time and also a time when people are more vulnerable, again implying his current state of weakness. There is also a segment where he is in a dark room lit only by a ring of fire around him, this signifies his trapped state of mind.
In conclusion, the vulnerability of the male character in Oopsy Daisy is signified through high angles, dark lighting and jump cuts, these make you sympathise with him because he goes from happy and successful at the beginning to sad and beaten by the end.

Kickstarts Analysis

Example’s Kickstarts video is about the relationship between a man and woman which often has its troubles but they manage to pull through it. Despite these issues arising, sometimes is quite trivial ways, he just ‘imagines life without’ her and falls in love all over again.
The primary shot used in the video is a close-up, this is a song very driven by emotion (mostly joy) and this type of shot allows the audience to realise that easily. This is also useful in engaging the audience because it really shows them how they are feeling so they can understand the characters much better; it has the ability to move the audience much more than longer shots.
The video begins with a close-up of a (male) tapping foot, this then becomes a split-screen with a woman’s foot being shown alongside it, and it continues to multiply until there are a total of 16 different shots of tapping feet being shown. This creates interest because it is only the beginning of the video and this strange foot-tapping segment asks questions. This split screen theme continues throughout the video and shows a wide variety of people in a similar situation to the main relationship, this signifies that the message in the song can be applied to just about any relationship between any people, it is by no means unique. The way the split-screen works varies, sometimes they have the various couple shuffling between the same situation (sitting in a tent for instance) or it is arranged so that the top, middle and bottom of the screen show different people. This results in the total ‘person’ having a different head, body and legs which again re-enforces the message that anyone can be in this sort of relationship. They even combine close-ups and the split-screen so that the face has a different mouth and eyes, this composition is strange and draws the viewer in.
The audience is also engaged through instances of humour, such as using objects in the ‘head-body-legs shuffle’ so that the feet may be potatoes on forks or the head is a sweet stuck on the end of someone’s finger.  The entire message of the song is wrapped up in a short sequence where the girl laughs at blowing bubbles in her drink, but the man looks confused, he then looks in her eyes and ‘imagines life without’ her and plays with his food too.
In conclusion, the video for Example’s Kickstarts relies on creating confusion and a bit of randomness through the split-screening technique to create interest and engage the audience.

Lyrics for our music video

See I reckon you're about an 8 or a 9,
Maybe even 9 and a half in four beers time.
That blue top shop top you've got on IS nice,
Bit too much fake tan though - but yeah you score high.

But theres just one little thing that really really,
Really really annoying me about you you see,
Yeah yeah like i said you are really fit
But my gosh don't you just know it

I'm not trying to pull you
Even though i would like to
I think you are really fit
You're fit But my gosh dont you know it

So when i looked at you standing there with your hoard,
I was waiting in the que looking at the board
Wondering whether to have a Burger or chips
Or what the shrapnel in my back pocket could afford
When i noticed out the corner of my eye
Looking toward my direction
Your eyes locked onto my course
I couldnt concentrate on what i wanted to order,
Which cost me my place in the queue i waited for YEAH

I'm not trying to pull you
Even though i would like to
I think you are really fit
You're fit But my gosh dont you know it

Whoa! Leave it out
Are you smoking something?
Leave it Out
Mike just leave it just leave it
We cannot have that behaviour in this establishment
S'not worth it mike, just leave it
Dont Touch Me, S'not Worth It
Dont Touch Me, D, Look Im Alright Dont Touch me

For a while there i was thinkin - yeah but what if?
Picturin' myself pullin with bare white hot wit
Snarin you as you were standing there opposite
Whether or not you knew it i swear you didnt tick
And when that bloke in the white behind us lot queuing
Was clockin onto you too yeah i had to admit
That yeah yeah you are fit,
And yeah i do want it,
But i stop sharkin' for a minute to get chips and drinks

I'm not trying to pull you
Even though i would like to
I think you are really fit
You're fit But my gosh dont you know it

Oy, just as you started to make your big advance
With the milkshake and that little doughnut in hand
I was like nah, I can't, even though you look grand
But you look sharp there smilin hard suggesting and
Gleaming away with your hearty hearty lookin tan
But i admit the next bit was spanner to my plan
You walked towards my path but just brushed right past
And into the arms of that white shirted man

I'm not trying to pull you
Even though i would like to
I think you are really fit
You're fit But my gosh dont you know it

Oh what do i give .. i've got a girlfirend anyway
(whoa, we've all had a drink mate)
We're all a bit drunk, yeah we've had a few fair play
I got this stella i bombed from that last cafe
This nights not even begun, yes yes oh yay

I did fancy you a bit though yeah i must say
I would rather i hadnt mugged myself on display
But this is just another case of female stopping play
On otherwise a total result of a holiday

I'm not trying to pull you
Even though i would like to
I think you are really fit
You're fit But my gosh dont you know it

about me

i am looking forward to the new task that we have been set in our A2 course, in this task we need to create a music video i am excited to start this topic because i am very into my music. My favourite type of music is probably Dubstep or Rock, this is because I like the faced paced tempo of both types, especially Dubstep, because I find that this helps to relax me (in a weird way). the part of media i enjoy the most is films i have a very very large collection of film the i love.
